New Pompeii 04:04
New Pompeii Ecstasy Lying ashes on the lilies A mouth in the fold breathes life You, oh Downward burn Kissing you there New Pompeii Smother the flowers Deep in the fold An answer to life From ashen lips You must die to live Smell the flower Smother flower From ashen lips you must die to live You, oh Downward burn Kissing you there New Pompeii

Like Summer 06:20
Like Summer Your shape So smooth Like summer So this is my punishment You’re so cruel The tightness of your skin against your dress I see you. Just like the summer. Distant Vacant Hold tight You take me down Mm Hmmm Take Take my pain. My pain.

And Bury Me (explicit) I think it’s really important to be pissed Stop tormenting me vulture I’ll not be the death that you need What is this life I feed? I suggest you respect Rather than neglect Reflect on the possibility Of a life without me I suggest you respect Rather than neglect What is this life I feed Hey Misery is misery that’s all it is to me. I suggest you respect Rather than neglect Reflect on the possibility Of a life without Be thankful it's not some mirror Reciprocity Because if it is Welcome the fucking casualties. Hey Misery is misery that's all it is to me. So Smile… It’s all your fault (All your fault) You fuck and bury me And that’s what you get.

We are Deviant Why this awareness? Once given it is the Mark of Cain The shame of seeing clearly Brings me Nausea and pain. I feel I cannot speak Your drool Your blank stare Sickens me It sickens me The precipice Summit of the mouthless and depraved I share this with the mouthless and the depraved. Solitude is a gift A refuge From your guilt lies and omission Where the nameless The faceless sit uninvited Divided To defy, deny or circumvent We are deviant.

about

This is a collection of songs I recorded from 2000-2006, recovering from a severely abusive relationship.

I share them now for the first time, as I felt these were too traumatic and personal. I have had time away from them and I think they show clearly a person so stamped by self-damnation that it is a service to rediscover them, and open and examine those wounds.

I survived and moved on, and so did my family. If you find yourself relating to these songs in the present tense, please work on seeking help, and know that you are not alone.

credits

released April 23, 2022

All compositions by Walksoftly.

Additional guitar and drums on "We Are Deviant" by the wonderful artist Mark Grider of Fedbysound fame.

For all the people that loved, knew, or endured me, I am sorry, I will work on being better.

***A word about revisions made to album art after initial release: I was wrong about the source of my AI art and it having the potential to hurt living artists and the estates of artists of the past. I apologize for, and own this decision. I held an opinion that I was replicating art of the past so therefore no current artists were being hurt. Given the many uses for AI I was very excited about interacting with it. I no longer believe that to be the case. I am replacing all AI art with photographs I took and edited on my own, and until I can earn enough doing this to hire a local artist, this will be the path I take.
